Lighting sources such as incandescent lights, fluorescent lights, and CFL lights have seen major adoption in the Indian market and have accounted for the major share of the market revenues. However, in the coming years, a shift towards LED lights is expected in India.
Increasing energy demand-supply gap, energy conservation, the need for more power-efficient products, and electrification of rural areas are some of the factors that are driving India LED lighting market.
Unlike, developed countries, the contribution of LED lighting towards India's lighting market is negligible. At present, the LED lighting market has only a single-digit contribution to the overall market revenues.
The adoption of LED lights in the Indian market is facing major constraints due to its higher cost when compared with other lighting sources. Also, with the absence of standards and strict regulations the market has not seen much adoption, however, it is anticipated that with government initiatives and declining prices, the market is expected to spur in the coming years.
