Even if India is currently struggling with its economic scenario, there is one segment in the country that is growing despite all odds and that is the country set-top box market. This report was recently revealed in new research from 6Wresearch.
The analyst in the research firm established that India set top box market has recorded a total shipment of 5.6 million units in the second quarter of 2013, which is a big consecutive rise of around 5 percent. And the top three players in terms of driving the market growth comprised Skyworth that leads almost three-fifths of the market claiming 38 percent of the total sales, while Cisco and Skynet follow with 11 percent and 10 percent respectively.
Talking about the technology, the DVB-C type of set-top boxes witnessed the maximum growth as compared to the previous quarter i.e. more than 12 percent maturation in Q2 2013. The DVB-C type of set-top boxes now represents more than four-fifths of total unit shipments in the India set-top box market in CY Q2 2013. Although a noticeable fact here is that the local STB production on the other hand is experiencing the highest low with a quarter-on-quarter decline of 60 percent.
