Mideast construction sector to drive bus duct trunking market

The global bus duct trunking system market is expected to grow at a rapid pace registering a CAGR of 4.2 per cent over the next five years, as construction activities in the Middle East and Asia Pacific regions continue to gain momentum, according to a report from 6Wresearch.

A bus duct (also called busway) is a sheet metal duct or cast resin insulated containing either copper or aluminium busbars for the purpose of conducting a substantial current of electricity. In electric power distribution, it is an alternative means of conducting electricity to power cables or cable bus.

Originally a busway consisted of bare copper conductors supported on inorganic insulators, such as porcelain, mounted within a non-ventilated steel housing.

Furthermore, the adoption of smart grids and green buildings globally would result in widespread demand for a bust duct trunking system during the forecast period, stated the research group in its 2020-25 review.

Increasing focus towards energy conservation and growing adoption of the smart grid across the world would drive the demand for bus duct turning system over the coming years.

Furthermore, modernization and integration of the bus duct trunking systems in existing buildings by replacement of wired connectivity would open new avenues for the application of bus duct trunking system market, it stated.

Akshay Thakur, Senior Research Analyst, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch, said by applications, an industrial sector dominated the market revenue share as the market for bus duct trunking system remains largely driven by widespread usage in industrial spaces.

"Additionally, the rising industrial sector in the Asia Pacific region would supplement this growth during the forecast period. Further, commercial application is anticipated to show strong growth on account of the rapid development of data centers and AI labs globally which would also bode well for the demand for bus duct trunking system over the years to come, he noted.

Sahil Sharma, the Research Associate, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch, said: "By regions, the Asia Pacific region acquired the largest market revenue share in the overall global bus duct trunking system market owing to the region’s rapid pace of industrialization and urbanization."

"Additionally, the plethora of upcoming infrastructure projects in the region such as Shanghai metro, Beijing New Airport and Jewar Airport would support the demand for bus duct trunking systems over the coming years," remarked Sharma.

"Furthermore, the Americas region is anticipated to witness sustained growth over the coming years on account of installations of smart grids and up-gradation of power transmission and distribution system.

Some of the major players in the global bus duct trunking sector include Schneider Electric, Siemens, ABB, General Electric, Larsen & Toubro, Eaton Corporation, Legrand, C&S Electric, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company and Mersen.
