The UAE intelligent transportation market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9.2 percent during 2018-24 on account of large scale Infrastructural projects as well as an increasing number of vehicles in the country, a report said.
In 2016, the market registered a slowdown in demand in terms of volume due to shrinking government spending owing to declining oil prices and halt in major government infrastructural projects, added the report titled "UAE Intelligent Transportation Market (2017-2023)" from 6Wresearch, global market research and consulting firm.
However, the market is anticipated to bounce back with the recovery of oil prices post 2017 and the announcement of transportation infrastructural development projects in the country.
"With the announcement of UAE smart city project, under which Dubai would be transformed into a smart city by 2019, including 100 smart initiatives such as providing smart transportation and offering 1,000 smart services would result in an increase in demand for the intelligent transportation system in UAE over the next three years," said Shefali Goel, senior research analyst, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch.
"Further, advanced transportation management system captured major revenue share of the overall market as a result of the growing demand for traffic monitoring and traffic signal control," Goel added.
Krishan Kohli, research associate, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch, said: "In UAE, the Northern region registered maximum deployment of the intelligent transportation system on the back of increasing infrastructure development activities, especially in the transportation sector."
"Further, traffic monitoring and public transportation verticals market accounted for the highest revenue share followed by tolling system, automotive telematics system, and others. Over the next six years, the public transportation and tolling system verticals are likely to grow at a higher CAGR during the forecast period," Kohli added.
Some other key factors such as a 27 percent surge in the infrastructural spending by the UAE government would lead to an increase in number of projects in the transportation sector, resulting in a surge in demand for the intelligent transportation systems, the report said.
Further, growing traffic congestion level coupled with increasing mass transit security concerns have fuelled the growth of intelligent transportation system market in UAE, it added. - TradeArabia News Service.
