Growing market for industrial robots in China

By 2019, China will have 87,125 industrial robots, new research finds.

This growth is driven by the burgeoning growth of the Chinese manufacturing industry, which brings with it a need for increasing manufacturing infrastructure and industrial automation.

The need for industrial automation is also driven by rising wage rates, and the need to improve productivity and efficiency.

According to 6Wresearch, the Chinese industrial robotics market is largely fuelled by the need for articulated robots, mostly in the automotive sector. Increasing vehicle production capacity will boost the market for articulated robots in China.

However, SCARA and parallel robots are also expected to grow, largely because they are used for electronics, semiconductors, and food and beverage manufacturing.

China currently imports its industrial robots from the international market, however, with rising demand, various robot manufacturers have started setting up manufacturing facilities in the country. These include companies such as ABB, Yaskawa, and KUKA.
